The local market

Why Orlando is a hard market for a law firm to stand out in

Greater Orlando has a lot of lawyers competing for the same searches. Statewide injury firms with large television budgets advertise here, so do national lead-generation sites that sell inquiries to whichever firm pays, and so do hundreds of smaller practices in Downtown Orlando, Winter Park, Lake Mary and Kissimmee. A solo or mid-size practice can’t outspend that group, so it has to be clearer, more local and easier to call.

The good news is that big advertisers are often weak where it counts locally. Their pages are generic, their Google profiles point to a call center, and their content rarely mentions a specific courthouse, road or neighborhood. A firm that shows up accurately on the map, answers Central Florida questions in plain English and picks up the phone can win calls that a bigger budget misses.

Florida Bar rules

What the Florida Bar’s advertising rules mean for your website and ads

Florida regulates lawyer advertising more closely than most states, through Subchapter 4-7 of the Rules Regulating The Florida Bar. We aren’t your ethics counsel and this isn’t legal advice. It is a summary of the rules we write within, so you know what to expect when we hand you a draft to approve.

Rule 4-7.12 requires every advertisement to name at least one responsible lawyer or the firm, and to give the city, town or county of at least one bona fide office. Rule 4-7.13 lists what counts as deceptive or inherently misleading, including statements a reader could take as a prediction or guarantee, references to past results that aren’t objectively verifiable, and descriptions of a lawyer’s skill or record that can’t be objectively verified.

Testimonials are allowed only under conditions in Rule 4-7.13: the person must be qualified to judge what they describe, it must be their actual experience, it must reflect what the firm’s clients generally experience, the lawyer can’t write it, the person can’t be given anything of value for it, and it must carry a disclaimer that a prospective client may not get the same or similar results. Rule 4-7.14 limits claims of being a specialist or expert, and allows “board certified” only with a qualifying certification named in the ad.

  • Firm websites are exempt from the Bar’s filing requirement, but they still must follow every other rule in Subchapter 4-7
  • Most other ads (TV, radio, print, billboards, banner and pop-up ads) must be filed with the Bar at least 20 days before first use, unless they contain only safe harbor content
  • Direct mail and direct email to prospective clients must always be filed for review
  • The Bar charges a filing fee, and a higher one for late filings

How we build Orlando location pages without implying offices you don’t have

A common shortcut in Orlando law firm SEO is a page for every city in four counties, each one identical except the name. Beyond being thin content that rarely earns a call, it carries a Florida-specific risk: the Bar’s comment to Rule 4-7.12 says an ad can’t state or imply that a lawyer has an office somewhere the lawyer has no bona fide office.

So we build fewer location pages and make each one honest and useful. A page for clients in Winter Park or Altamonte Springs says where your office actually is, how far it is, whether you meet by video, and which courthouse a case from that area goes to. Orange and Osceola cases run through the Ninth Judicial Circuit, with courthouses in Downtown Orlando and downtown Kissimmee, while Seminole County cases in Sanford, Lake Mary and Oviedo are handled by a different circuit. Details like that help a reader and tell Google the page is real.

Local search behavior

How Orlando clients search for a lawyer

Search patterns here follow the roads and the calendar. After a crash on I-4, the 408 or US-192, people search on a phone for an accident lawyer near them, often from a hospital or a body shop, and they call whoever appears first on the map with good reviews. Arrests spike calls at night and on weekends, so a defense firm that answers after hours has a real advantage.

Orlando also has a large visitor population. A tourist hurt on International Drive or in a rideshare near the parks may fly home to another state and keep searching from there, typing the name of the area where it happened. Pages that describe where a case would be handled and how out-of-state clients can work with your firm by phone and video catch those searches.

Then there are the residents moving in. Fast-growing areas such as Lake Nona, Winter Garden, Clermont and the Osceola side of the region bring new families who need wills, trusts and family law help and don’t have a lawyer yet. They search more slowly and read more, which is where estate planning and family law content earns its keep.

Content that helps

Florida timing that belongs in your injury content

Good content answers the questions a client is afraid to ask. In Florida, one of those is time. The 2023 tort reform law, HB 837, cut the limitations period for general negligence claims from four years to two for causes of action arising after March 24, 2023, and moved the state to a modified comparative negligence system in which an injured person found more than 50 percent at fault generally can’t recover.

We don’t give legal advice on your pages, and neither should anyone writing for you. We write clear, accurate explainers that send people to a consultation, and your attorneys review the legal substance before anything is published. Content like that is useful to a reader in Kissimmee or Sanford and it’s exactly what thin template pages can’t provide.

Google profile

Orlando law firm SEO starts with the map

For most Orlando practices, the map pack drives more calls than any single page on the site. That makes your Google Business Profile the first thing we fix: correct categories, a real office address that matches the Bar listing and the website, current hours, real photos of your office and attorneys, and a link to the page that best fits the search.

Firms here relocate too, for example leaving a Downtown tower for Maitland or opening a second office in Lake Mary. Every move leaves old listings behind on directories and data aggregators. We find them, correct or merge them, and keep one consistent identity so Google stops dividing your reviews and authority between two versions of the firm.

Seasonality

Seasons, storms and the Orlando caseload

Central Florida has rhythms that affect legal demand. Tourist peaks around spring break, summer and the winter holidays put more visitors on the roads. Big conventions at the Orange County Convention Center fill hotels along International Drive. Hurricane season, roughly June through November, brings property damage disputes, insurance questions and power outages that can knock a firm’s phones offline.

We plan content and any ad budgets around those swings, so the right pages are current before demand rises instead of after. We also make sure your website and call routing keep working when the office is closed for a storm, with calls forwarded to a cell phone or answering service you choose.

Working together

How a Davenport team works with Orlando firms

We work virtually by default, with video calls, shared documents and one point of contact who replies on the day you write. Most firms prefer it, because it fits around court schedules. We’re close enough to Orlando that we can meet when it helps, but the work doesn’t depend on it.

Approvals are built for busy attorneys. We send drafts in batches, highlight anything that touches a Bar rule (results, testimonials, credentials, office locations), and wait for your sign-off. Nothing about your firm goes live without a lawyer at the firm having seen it.

The offer

What Orlando firms get for one flat monthly fee

The offer is the same structure whether your office is on Orange Avenue or in Lake Mary: one flat monthly fee, with a custom website included and live within 30 days, Google profile management, directory cleanup, local SEO, at least 19 new pieces of content each month, review requests, social posts, optional ads management and tracking that ties calls and forms to signed cases.

The commitment is 6 months, then month to month. The domain, site, Google profile, analytics and any ad account are created in the firm’s name from day one. We discuss pricing on a call after we understand your practice areas and the parts of Central Florida you want to reach.

What is the best way to market a law firm in Orlando?

Start with the basics that big advertisers often neglect: an accurate Google profile, a fast site that is easy to call from a phone, and real local content. Then track every call to a signed case so you know which of those efforts pays. Ads come after the tracking works, if at all.

Does a law firm website have to be filed with the Florida Bar?

According to the Bar’s own guidance, lawyer and law firm websites are exempt from the filing requirement. They still have to comply with every other advertising rule, including the bans on misleading claims and the conditions on testimonials. This is general information, not legal advice.

Can we put client reviews and testimonials on our Orlando firm’s website?

Florida allows testimonials only under specific conditions, including that they reflect the person’s actual experience, that the lawyer didn’t write them, that nothing of value was given, and that a disclaimer says others may not get similar results. We set up testimonials to meet those conditions and you approve each one.

Can we create pages for cities where we don’t have an office?

You can write helpful pages for clients in other parts of Central Florida, but under the Bar’s rules they can’t imply an office that doesn’t exist. We write those pages to say clearly where your office is and how clients from that area work with you.

How much does law firm marketing in Orlando cost?

Pricing is a single flat fee per month that includes the site, with a 6-month minimum and then month to month. We don’t publish a price because it depends on your practice areas and markets. We share it on the first call, after the free review.

Do you meet with Orlando firms in person?

We work virtually by default, which most busy firms prefer. Our office is in Davenport, about 30 miles from downtown Orlando, so we can meet when it helps.

Can you help us reach tourists injured in Orlando?

Yes, through content and search pages that explain how visitors hurt in Central Florida can work with your firm after they go home. We describe your process truthfully and avoid any claim about results that the Bar’s rules would treat as misleading.

We already have an Orlando agency. Why switch?

Maybe you shouldn’t. Ask your current agency for signed cases by source and cost per case. If they can show you that, keep them. If they can’t, our free review will show you where the tracking breaks and what we would change.

Is your copy reviewed for Florida Bar compliance?

We write every page within Subchapter 4-7 and flag anything involving results, testimonials, credentials or office locations. Your attorneys approve every page before it publishes, and the firm makes the final compliance decision.
